Odisha Diploma Entrance Test, DET Odisha 2014, governed by Department of Employment and Technical Education & Training, Government of Odisha came out with the concept of holding a common entrance test for all the Professional diploma courses of the state. The basic purpose is to select candidates for consideration of admission to the state polytechnics (both government and private) on the basis of the results of a single competitive examination, which would lead to saving of time, energy and expenditure on the part of the candidates in appearing at number of entrance tests.

The DET authority is responsible for conducting the entrance examination, generation of rank and carrying out the counseling process for admission into diploma courses with a view to produce quality technical manpower in the field of Engineering and Technology through the approved Govt./Pvt./self-financed institutions following the norms and standards as prescribed by AICTE.

The main objectives of web based counseling system are:

  • To build strong public interface to minimize travel burdens on counselees and their parents for counseling.

The Application Form for all Diploma Courses is available ONLINE which may be filled up neatly & correctly and should be submitted on or before due date.

Any candidate who has been disqualified or debarred by the University or Board or any other Statutory Board shall not be eligible for admission to the Engineering schools/ Polytechnics of Odisha State for the period he/ she has been debarred.

Canvassing in any form is strictly prohibited. Further, if any candidate, person or official engages himself/ herself in any unlawful Act that results or indulges in any kind of unfair means in the Test, he/she shall be liable to prosecution under relevant law as per Indian Penal Code.

The Principal of the concerned Polytechnic/ Institute shall satisfy himself regarding the authenticity of all documents/certificates submitted by the candidates for the purpose of their admission in the Engineering schools/ Polytechnic and shall be verified by the institution from the issuing authority. The Principal/ Authority of the verifying institution shall be held solely responsible for any ineligible/ irregular admission made in the Engineering schools/ the Polytechnics which shall not be regularized by the DET Committee.

If a candidate is admitted on the basis of the information submitted by him/ her, which is found to be incorrect/ false later on, his/ her admission shall be cancelled and all fees/ dues paid by him/ her shall be forfeited. The DTE&T, Odisha/ Institute may also take further action, as deemed fit, against the candidate and his/ her guardian in accordance with provisions of law.

Fulfilling eligibility for Diploma Engineering / Diploma Engineering (Lateral Entry) /NonEngineering courses with respect to qualification shall be proved by the candidate at the time of counseling. The candidate may seek admission at his/her own risk and cost and if he/ she is found ineligible at any time, his/ her entire dues shall be forfeited and his/her admission shall be cancelled for which he/she shall have no claim, whatsoever.

Candidates seeking admission in private unaided institutions are advised to ensure that they are lawfully admitted failing which, they shall not be authenticated by the DTE&T and shall not be registered by the State Council for Technical Education & Vocational Training (SCTE&VT), Bhubaneswar and they themselves shall be responsible for any such lapse.

The decision of the DTE&T, Odisha in all matters relating to the admissions shall be final and binding.

All disputes pertaining to examination and counseling for making admissions to all Diploma Courses for the session 2014-15 are subject to the jurisdiction of Courts at Cuttack only. The DTE&T shall be the legal authority in whose name the State may sue or may be sued for this purpose. No suit, prosecution or other legal proceedings shall lie against the State of Odisha or any Officer of the State Govt. or the Counseling Agency or SCTE&VT, for anything which is done in good faith or intended to be done for the purpose of DET examination and counseling.

The candidate appearing the qualifying examination shall also apply. However he/she has to produce the said pass certificate (with minimum marks as mentioned above) at the time of counseling.

In case of compartmental pass, the marks secured in first chance examination shall be considered for calculating the minimum percentage marks at the qualifying examination.

  • ITI / +2 Vocational (2 years course) pass out students in any Engineering Trades are eligible for admission to 80% seats of Lateral Entry in any discipline of Diploma Engineering Programme. For the rest 20% seats, +2 Science Pass out with PCM are eligible under Lateral Entry in Diploma Engineering programme (vide G.O. No. IXTTI-8/2009/4624/I, dt. 26.03.2010)
  • Seats remaining vacant in either of the aforesaid category will be filled up from other category and vice-versa as the case may be.
  • +2 Science with PCM / +2 Vocational (2 years course) pass out students in any Engineering Trades / 2 years ITI in Engineering Trades with pass in HSC Examination conducted by BSE, Odisha / 10th standard examination declared equivalent by BSE, Odisha shall be admitted against 20% supernumerary seats in Govt. / Private Institutions.
  • In case of under Metric, 2 years ITI Engineering Trade courses, the candidates should have passed HSC conducted by BSE, Odisha/ 10th standard examination declared equivalent by BSE, Odisha at the time of the application for admission to Diploma courses under Lateral Entry.
  • Regarding COE Trade, the candidate should have passed one year BBBT & 6 months Advanced Module. He/she has to produce the completion certificate of Specialized Module issued from the concerned Principal.
  • The ITI candidates having Computer Operator and Programming Assistant (+2 entry level qualifications) are eligible for admission to only Computer Science & Engineering and Information Technology branch under lateral entry.
  • No admission will be done under Lateral Entry in Architecture Assistantship and all nonengineering courses.

NB:

  • To avail reservation, the candidate must be permanent resident of Odisha.
  • For admission to 3 rd Semester Diploma Course under lateral entry, the candidate must be a permanent resident of Odisha
  • In both the above cases, the candidate has to produce the permanent resident certificate from the competent authority in Form-V
  • The Govt. of Odisha / Diploma Entrance Test Committee, 2013 will not be responsible for any regulation of service/ employment where different requirement of age & other eligibility criteria exists. The candidate should take admission at his / her own risk as regard to age & other eligibility criteria regarding regulation of service.
  • Some seats in Diploma Courses outside the State are allotted by MHRD / AICTE for Odisha State Candidates. Minimum eligibility criteria and age limits as applicable in the concerned States will be followed for admission to those seats.   7. Applicants who are not able to get or see application number after clicking “Confirm Application Form” option, their application form is not saved and they can fill and submit application form again.
  8. On successfully submitting and getting application number, please remember or keep this application number for future reference. Then two links are available for payment of Application Fee of w300.00 i.e. NEFT application form or AXIS Bank Challan Form, which contains Applicants Name, Application Number, Account No etc. The applicant can download any one fee deposit form and deposit the fees at any Bank in NEFT mode or at AXIS Bank in the Challan Form by 15/03/2014 (tentative). Please use your own NEFT/Challan form to deposit fees.
  9. After 24 hours (excluding public holidays) of depositing fees at Bank, please visit the website to know the status of receipt of fees by DET.
  10. To know the status of receipt of fees, please click on the link “Status of Application” in the website. If status is not updated after due time mentioned above, please inquire at Axis Bank helpline number(s) available in NEFT / Challan form. Also, you can contact DET Help Line to inform about the non-receipt of fees.

For Applying Offline

Sale of OMR application (Off-line Form & Information Brochure) will start from 10 A.M. dt.27-01-2014 (tentative) and closes at 5 P.M. dt.14-03-2014 (tentative). The application material can be obtained from any of the sale cum receipt counters as listed. The cost of application material including the Examination fee is w500.00 per candidate for OFFLINE mode.

Instructions for applying Offline

  1. Read carefully the eligibility criteria.
  2. Please note down the Six digit application form number for future reference. Read the instructions carefully before filling the application form. Refer to the sample filled in application form provided on the last two pages.
  3. First write in Capital letters the required information in rectangular boxes above the circles (wherever provided) and then darken the appropriate circle underneath each letter. What you write in these boxes is only for your guidance and for verification that you are darkening the correct circle.
  4. A machine will process the top portion of the application form. The machine picks up only dark marks. Therefore, darken the circles carefully using HB pencil or blue/ black ball pen only. Please see the illustration on the application form to learn how to darken the circles
  5. If you wish to change a marking, erase the darkened circle completely and then darken the appropriate circle. This is possible if you are using pencil. Otherwise, you can use white correction fluid for covering wrongly darkened circle.
  6. Do not scribble, smudge, cut, tear or wrinkle the application form. Do not put any stray marks anywhere on the application form.
  7. Do not write or mark on the Barcodes.
  8. Your photograph, signature and address are to be scanned by another machine that recognizes only good quality images, and from the specified areas of the form. Therefore paste a good quality Color photograph taken not more than two months earlier, and write your address in black/ blue ball pen only and put your signature using black ball / Ink pen only.
  9. Please note that your name, your father’s name, and your date of birth should exactly be the same as in your 10th standard examination certificate. Any discrepancies, whenever discovered, may lead to cancellation of your candidature.
  10. Your application must be complete in all aspects. Incomplete application or application filled in a language other than English will be summarily rejected without any notice.
  11. Options filled by you in the application form can not be changed at a later stage.
  12. It is suggested that you make a photocopy of the application form before filling and use that first for practice.
  13. It is advised to be more careful while filling up of Point No-6, i.e. Course in the application form.
  14. The candidate is advised to retain a photo copy of filled in application form for further correspondence.
