1. Brief about Punjab Technical University

PTU was established in the year 1997 under The Punjab Technical University Act, 1996 (Punjab) Act No. 1 of 1997) to provide for the establishment and incorporation of a University for the advancement of technical education and development thereof in the State of Punjab and for matters connected therewith. In pursuance of this Act, the University started its journey with 09 engineering colleges and few management colleges affiliated to it. Since then the University has come a long way and at present the University, under its administration, has more than 400 colleges offering courses in Engineering, Management, Pharmacy, B.Sc MLT, Hotel Management & Catering

Technology and IT disciplines, around 2,000 learning centres across India under distance education programme, 26 Regional Centres for M.Tech and 01Regional Centre for M. Pharmacy PTU has taken new intitiatives in technical education to provide latest trends in technology and give opportunity to students and faculty to interact with the technology leaders in the country including e-goverance. It is well known that quality of educaton is depended on the quality of teachers and research inputs and in order to provide opportunity to the faculty to improve their qualification and to introduce research activities, the University has established more than 15 regional centres and 20 plus Constituent Institute at various locations in Punjab or IIT / IAM pattern and have started M.Tech courses. Fulfills the conditions mentioned in the Punjab Govt. notification incorporated in the Information Brochure. D. Fulfills the requirements laid down by the University / Institution to which he / she is seeking admission. E. Is a citizen of India. All other general eligibility criteria is as per Memo

No. 35/44/95-1T(2)/978 Dated, Chandigarh, the 21st March, 2003 of the State Govt. of Punjab . 3. RESERVATION FOR RURAL AREA CANDIDATES IN GURU NANAK DEV ENGINEERING COLLEGE, LUDHIANA AND BABA BANDA SINGH BAHADUR ENGINEERING COLLEGE, FATEHGARH SAHIB. 70% seats in the above two institutions are meant for rural area candidates. Criteria laid down by these institutions as given in Part-A. The reservation policy of Punjab Government is applicable. Students not

claiming Rural Area category and without the prescribed certificate shall be considered only under Urban Area. 4. SIKH RELIGION EXAMANTION

1. Sikh Religion examination is being conducted by Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Engineering College, Fatehgarh Sahib, on behalf of SGPC. This qualifying examination is for 50% reserved seats in the following SGPC run institutes:

a) BBSB Engineering College, Fatehgarh Sahib.

b) BBSB Polytechnic College, Fatehgarh Sahib

c) Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College, Ludhiana.

d) Guru Nanak Dev Polytechnic, Ludhiana.

2. For admission to these colleges under Sikh minority quota, candidates must qualify the Sikh Religion Examination (SRE) conducted by SGPC. A candidate shall be eligible for admission by securing 36% marks in this test. Admission will however be made on the basis of JEE (Main)/JET..

3. The examination is to be held on Sunday, 12th May 2013 from 1130 hrs to 1230 hrs in the following centres: a) BBSB Engineering College, Fatehgarh Sahib.

b) Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College, Ludhiana.

c) Mata Sundri Public School, Kotshameer (Distt- Bathinda)

d) Sri Guru Ram Das Institute of Dental Science & Research, Amritsar.

4. The application forms shall be available at the counter of BBSBEC, Fatehgarh Sahib. This form shall have to be brought to the BBSB Engineering College, Fatehgarh Sahib. 5. Application on the prescribed form is to be submitted to Coordinator (SRE) c/o Principal, BBSB Engineering College, Fatehgarh Sahib. The admit cards to be collected personally by the candidates on the spot from 29.04.2013 to 10.05.2013 (except 05th May [Sunday]). 6. The documents to be annexed with the applications are:

a) Photocopy of Admit Card of JEE (Mains)-2013 & 10+2 OR JET-2013 & Matric

b) Two photographs.

c) Fee of Rs. 700/- payable in cash.

d) Self declaration “I belong to Sikh religion abide by principles of Sikhism have faith in ten Sikh Gurus and Sri Guru Granth Sahib and maintain complete Sikh appearance

The self declaration submitted should be countersigned by one of the parents of the candidate/ legal guardian. 7. In case the name of the candidate does not include “Singh / Kaur” the candidate shall have to submit a copy of affidavit and cutting of the newspaper carrying the advertisement for the change of name. 8. The suggested books (SGPC Publications) for the preparation of the exam are: Sikh Itihas Part-I and Part-II by Prof. Kartar Singh, Dharam Pothi No. 9 & 10, Sikh Rahit Maryada, Sikh Faith by Gurbax Singh.

MANAGEMENT QUOTA SEATS 1. The Government of Punjab has approved 33-1/3 percent (one third) of total seats as management quota vide Notification No.

13/129/2003-1TE2/ 1247 dated 25.04.2008 in all the Private Unaided Colleges / Institutions. 2. Each Institution shall publish an advertisement in two leading newspapers (one in English and one in Punjabi language), with a clear fifteen days of period before the last date for making application for admission under this category. 3. The College / Institute Management shall fill these seats in accordance with the following order of preference:

i) Merit in JEE-2013

ii) Marks secured in the qualifying examination.

4. The fee of “Management Quota” seats shall be the same as the latest uniform rate of fee already notified vide No.- 13/127/09-1TE2/767 dated 01/03/2011 until it is revised in accordance with procedure established by law, subject to the condition that there shall be no profiteering or charging or any capitation fee, directly or indirectly, Miscellaneous charges like Admission Fee, Security, Student Fund and Hostel Fee already fixed and conveyed vide memos dated 4/3/99 and 15/3/99 will continue be charged. 5. The admission under Management Quota will be initiated after the completion of counselling conducted by Punjab Technical University Jalandhar. 8. ADMISSION OF INTERNATIONAL CANDIDATES Admission of NRI / PIO / Foreign National candidates will be based on merit in 10+2 (Non-Medical) or equivalent examination. (i) The candidates against NRI / PIO / NRI seats will be admitted on merit determined on the basis of marks obtained in the qualifying examination. They shall not be required to take the Entrance Test.

(ii) First preferences shall be given to those NRI/ PIO candidates who are having ancestral Punjab Resident background.

(iii) Second preference shall be given to those NRI / PIO candidates who are having ancestral background relating to other States of India.

iv) Third preference shall be given to those resident Indian Candidates who are sponsored by an NRI/PIO and the sponsorship letter is attached with their application.

v) Fourth preference shall be given to those resident Indian Candidates who are ready to pay fees in Indian Currency.

RULES FOR ADJUSTMENT / REFUND OF FEES (i) In case a student changes his / her / college / University during centralized counselling conducted by PTU his / her fee shall be refunded by the previous Institution after deduction of Rs. 1000/-only and the original documents will be returned immediately. (ii) In case a student surrenders his / her seat within 7 days of the end of the online counselling, he / she must submit application to the college and register online on PTU website www.ptuadmissions.nic.in. PTU shall only forward such cases to the concerned colleges / Universities and colleges must refund his / her full fee after deduction of Rs. 1000/-only.

(iii) In keeping with the direction of Ministry of Human Resource Development Department, Govt. of India all Institutions and Universities shall in public interest, maintain a waiting list of students/ candidates. In the event of a student/ candidate withdrawing before the starting of the course, the wait listed candidates should be given admissions against the vacant seat. The entire fees collected from the student, after a deduction of the processing fee of not more than Rs. 1000/- (Rupees One Thousand only) shall be refunded and returned by the Institution/ University to the student/ candidate withdrawing from the programme. It would not be permissible for institutions and universities to retain the school/institutes leaving certificates in original. Should a student leave after joining the course and if the seat consequently falling vacant gets filled by another candidate by the last date of admission, the institution must return the fees collected with proportionate deductions of monthly fee and proportionate hostel rent, where applicable.

TIE-UP ARRANGEMENT FOR EDUCATIONAL LOAN Tie-Up arrangement for Education Loan to the students studying/pursuing courses at different colleges affiliated to Punjab Technical University has been made with the following banks: 1. Punjab National Bank 2. HDFC Bank Education loan to the students will be sanctioned by the Bank subject to the fulfillment of eligibility criteria for Education Loan. The loan facility is hereby extended to all students of PTU studying under regular education programme. Students can contact to the nearest bank for education load facility. 12. COUNSELLING SCHEDULE FOR FEE WAIVER SCHEME AND MAGAMENT QUOTA

INFORMATION ABOUT B.PHARMACY

Admission to B. Pharmacy course of Punjab Technical University shall be conducted only through online Counselling

1. Eligibility Conditions

A. Eligibility

As per Punjab Government notification No. 13/105/10-1TE2/792 Dated: 08-03-2013. ELIGIBLITY CRITERIA for admission is :

I. B. Pharmacy Course

All those candidates who have passed the 10+2 examination from a board recognized or established by Central/State Government through a legislation with Physics and Chemistry as compulsory subject along with one of the Mathematics/Chemistry/ Biotechnology/ Biology shall eligible to apply. OR All those candidates who have passed Diploma Pharmacy from an institute affiliated to Punjab State Board of Technical Education & Industrial Training / Punjabi University, Patiala or any other University or any State Board of Technical Education provided that the diploma or the institute duly approved by the PCI / AICTE.

II. Pharma.D course

The minimum qualification for admission to Pharma.D course shall be as follows:

i) A pass in 10+2 examination from a board recognized or established by Central/State Government through a legislation with Physics and Chemistry as compulsory subjects along with one of the following subjects:

  •  Mathematics or Biology

ii) A pass in D.Pharm course from an institution approved by the Pharmacy council of India under section 12 of The Pharmacy Act.

iii) Candidates shall be admitted to 4 year B.Pharmacy course and 6 year Pharma.D course on the basis of inter-se-merit in the qualifying examination mentioned above.

B. Possesses a good moral character.

C. Fulfills the conditions mentioned in the Punjab Govt. notification incorporated in the Information Brochure. D. Fulfills the requirements laid down by the University / Institution to which he / she is seeking admission. E. Is a citizen of India. 5. Tie Breaking In cae of tie the same shall be decided as follows

(i) The candidate scoring higher marks in Compulsory shall be higher in merit

(ii) In case of tie in (i) above, candidates scoring higher marks in Physics shall be higher in merit.

(iii) In case of tie in (ii) above, candidates scoring higher marks in Chemitry shall be higher in merit.

(iv) In case of tie in (iii) above, candidates senior in age shall rank higher in order of merit.

(v) In case of tie in (iv) above, candidates scoring higher marks in 10th examination shall be higher in merit.

NOTE: The inclusion of the name of a candidate in the merit list B.Pharamcy / Pharm’D shall not ipso facto, entitle him / her to secure admission.
