ACADEMIC AND PROFESSIONAL ELIGIBILITY (EVENING COLLEGES)
a. The applicant should be a holder of Diploma in the appropriate branch of engineering specified in SCHEDULE 2 (Refer Website) awarded by the Board of Technical Examinations in Karnataka or an equivalent Examination in Karnataka and has passed the final year Examination with an aggregate of Minimum 50% marks (aggregate of 45% in case of Schedule caste / Schedule Tribe / Backward classes as specified in the relevant Government order) and shall be presently employed and
b. As on the 1st September of the year of admission, after passing Diploma Course the applicant must have minimum TWO year professional experience in the branch of Engineering, Technology, in which he/she holds Diploma.
Explanation : Professional Experience means employed on regular basis and presently working in –
a) Government, Government undertaking, Public Sector undertaking, Corporation or
b) Private concern registered under the Directorate of Industrial and Commerce or the Directorate of Small Scale industries.
c) Private Limited company or
d) Government, Government recognised Institutions as technical staff:
Provided that the period of apprenticeship undergone shall also be treated as professional experience, if sponsored by the Board of Apprenticeship Training, Southern Region, Chennai. Provided further that employment shall be in an establishment situated within the urban agglomeration of the city as specified by the Tahsildar of the concerned jurisdiction.
Note : In such cases where geniunity of the employment certificate is questionable such students have to produce supportive documents specifying the registration details of the industry/Company (eg : SSI Registration) and/or identity cards provided to then together with the latest salary certificate. ADMISSION TO ARCHITECTURE COURSE (ONLY FOR DAY ENGINEERING COLLEGES)
Candidates should have passed 10+3(Any Diploma Stream). In respect of Architecture he/she should have secured not less than 50% of the marks in the final year Diploma Examination. In respect of SC/ST/OBC candidates it is 45% and appeared for National Aptitude test (NATA) conducted by the council of Architecture & has secured 40% of marks.
WHAT IS NATA?
‘National Aptitude Test in Architecture’ or NATA is an All India level entrance examination conducted by the Council of Architecture for 200 marks, for admission of candidates to First year of five-year full time B. Arch. Degree course.
The Architecture seats in Government, Aided and Un-aided institutions of the State are offered ONLY to the candidates who have appeared for NATA and who have obtained the prescribed minimum marks in both Qualifying Examination and NATA. Therefore, all the candidates who want to be considered for allotment of Architecture seats, should compulsorily appear for NATA, and should obtain a minimum of 40% marks including SC, ST, Category-I and OBC category candidates in NATA (In other words one has to secure a minimum of 80 MARKS OUT OF 200).
